FAQ

Welcome to our FAQ section -- serving both current members and prospective students. You should find all the answers to your questions here, but let us know if that’s not the case and we’ll happily help out.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED AT?

Our base of operations is at Compton/Woodley Airport (KCPM). We are located inside Tomorrow's Aeronautical Museum (Big Blue Hangar).

CAN I LEARN TO FLY WITH YOU?

Absolutely, our club has several members who are certified instructors for a variety of licenses. Check out our "Instructors" page for more information. If you'd like to start your journey into the skies, click on "How to Join" to begin the application process, or consider joining us on a Discovery Flight for a hands-on joyride!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST / HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO EARN MY LICENSES?

The answer varies -- it depends on your goals, personal skill, and available time! Check out our Future Pilot Brochure at the top of the page for a closer look and estimate on what it could take to achieve your dreams!

DO YOU HAVE AVIATION CAREER CONNECTIONS?

All students who complete their training through Fly Compton are automatically considered to return as certified flight instructors if their training takes them down that path. As for career opportunities, we've placed members of our club in every major airline and cargo carrier in the U.S. To put it succinctly: "Compton takes care of its own!"

WHAT'S THE SECRET TO SUCCESSFUL TRAINING?

50% Student Motivation

40% Consistency of Training

10% Instructor Input

It's no secret that flight training is difficult and the dropout rate is notoriously high. We sit down and chat with every new student to talk about costs and obstacles ahead (being a pilot starts before day 1!).

A good instructor can be the difference between a student on the edge of success, but a strong and motivated student is always the "X" factor. Consistency of training refers to two things: a) weekly training frequency and b) secured financial support. Just like all skills worth learning, it takes consistent practice and repetition!

DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?

Yes! Fly Compton AeroClub does offer financing for flight training through Pilot Finance Inc. Please visit https://www.pilotfinance.com/ for more information and/or to apply.
